Plan room acoustics for interiors project by project

This page guides the acoustic planning process: define room use and objectives, select suitable HEXAGO systems and align available technical documentation with the intended configuration. The acoustic collection handles direct product and class comparison.

Sound absorption, product selection and technical evidence are always assessed for the specific variant and project configuration.

Use case & audience

Which planning tasks this page is for

The focus is room application and project-specific selection rather than a general product catalogue.

Meeting, workplace and reception areas with reverberation or speech-intelligibility requirements

Hospitality and shared spaces with a defined acoustic task

Projects where room use, absorption class, product selection and technical evidence must be coordinated

Products & applications

Products for acoustic planning

Product selection follows the acoustic task. For a complete comparison of all HEXAGO systems by class and format, use the acoustic collection.

HEXAGO CM-A

Class A acoustic panel. A specific tested configuration is documented with αw 0.95, NRC 1.00 and SAA 0.96.

HEXAGO P-A

Class A acoustic panel. A specific tested configuration is documented with αw 0.95, NRC 0.95 and SAA 0.95.

HEXAGO CM-D

Acoustic panel with sound absorption class D to EN ISO 11654. Numerical values from other HEXAGO variants are not transferred to CM-D.

Technical evidence for acoustic planning

  • —HEXAGO CM-A: αw 0.95 · NRC 1.00 · SAA 0.96 · sound absorption class A.
  • —HEXAGO P-A: αw 0.95 · NRC 0.95 · SAA 0.95 · sound absorption class A.
  • —The stated measurement values come from a specific test dated 11 May 2022 to ISO 354:2003 in a reverberation room.
  • —Other HEXAGO variants are assessed using their documented sound absorption class; numerical values are not transferred broadly.
  • —Further technical documents are provided or requested through DEKOSTYL for the specific project where available.

Note: The stated test values are not a general property of the complete acoustic collection.

Room acoustics FAQ for HEXAGO

How do I start selecting a HEXAGO acoustic system?

Start with the room, its use and the acoustic objective. Then compare suitable HEXAGO variants, their sound absorption classes and the technical documentation available for the project.

Which acoustic values are specifically documented?

Specific HEXAGO CM-A test configurations document αw 0.95, NRC 1.00 and SAA 0.96. Specific HEXAGO P-A configurations document αw 0.95, NRC 0.95 and SAA 0.95. Other variants are assessed using their respective documented sound absorption class.

Is HEXAGO CM-D only a diffuser?

No. The manufacturer documents HEXAGO CM-D as an acoustic panel with sound absorption class D to EN ISO 11654. Numerical values from CM-A or P-A are still not transferred to CM-D.

Can DEKOSTYL provide test reports and planning documents?

Available documents are reviewed for the product and configuration and provided through DEKOSTYL or requested from the manufacturer. DEKOSTYL is the official distribution partner in Germany.

Which fire classification do the panels have?

As standard, the panels of the DEKOSTYL wall system (decorative and HEXAGO acoustic panels) have a decorative hardwax finish and achieve fire classification D-s2,d2. For public spaces, hotels and commercial areas with higher requirements, fire-retardant finishes such as Ciranova UN1CO oil or Hasse MEGA-PUR lacquer are available, reaching class B-s1,d0 (low flammability). Both classes are backed by certificate, which we provide for your project. The fire-retardant version slightly extends production time and involves additional cost. The classes also apply to HEXAGO acoustic panels and are backed by certificate.
